About
The special exhibition 'Musica di strada' at the Museum Pankow has been extended until June 2026, offering a deep dive into the migration of Italians to Berlin starting in the mid-19th century. Between 1861 and 1914, millions of people left Italy, and many arrived in Berlin, settling specifically in the Prenzlauer Berg district. They brought with them specialized skills in trade, craftsmanship, and music, which left a lasting cultural mark on the neighborhood's development. Through historical artifacts and personal stories, this exhibition celebrates the Italian contribution to Berlin's metropolitan identity. It is a vital look at the historical roots of one of Berlin’s most famous neighborhoods.
