About

In 1946, amidst the rubble of post-war Berlin, the Kunstamt Zehlendorf was founded in the former Haus Knobloch industrialist villa. This institution eventually became the Haus am Waldsee, which has shaped the city's exhibition history for decades. Celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2026, the house reflects on its evolution from a private residence to a public cultural venue. The exhibition traces the ruptures and continuities of the post-war era, documenting the transformation of the building and its enduring role in Berlin's vibrant art scene.
